Statement by Kofi Annan on Chile Earthquake

“I am shocked and deeply saddened by the devastating loss of life and damage caused by the earthquake in Chile.

My heart goes out to the victims and their families, the Chilean people and all those affected, as they begin to recover from this calamity.

I urge those with the capacity to give, to assist the Chilean government in its efforts to provide emergency support and begin long-term reconstruction, particularly of the country’s infrastructure.”
