MEDIA NOTE

Conference on Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas

The Secretary of State's Coordinator for International Energy Affairs, David Goldwyn, will give remarks at a conference on the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA) on Tuesday, April 6, at 1:00 p.m. at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), B1 Conference Center, 1800 K Street, NW. Other panel participants include U.S. Department of Energy Assistant Secretary David Sandalow, representatives from the Inter-American Development Bank and the Organization of American States, and government officials from partner countries.

The conference, hosted by the CSIS Americas Program and the CSIS Energy and National Security Program, will address initiatives underway in advance of the Energy and Climate Ministerial of the Americas, to be held April 15-16, 2010, in Washington, D.C.

ECPA brings together countries from across the Western Hemisphere to facilitate the acceleration of clean energy development and deployment; advance energy security; and reduce energy poverty by sharing best practices, encouraging investment, and cooperating on technology research, development and deployment. ECPA is shaped by five pillars: energy efficiency, renewable energy, cleaner fossil fuels, infrastructure, and energy poverty.
