Hindus Ask Croatia To Better Roma Conditions
Hindus Ask Croatia To Urgently Improve The Slum-Like Living Conditions Of Its Roma Populace
Hindus have urged Croatia to take care of its Roma minority many of whom reportedly live in very unhealthy conditions not fit for human existence.
Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that Croatia should also provide adequate avenues of education and employment to its Roma populace. Current shanty town living of many Roma settlements was not acceptable.
Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, argued that instead of reportedly continuing to marginalize Roma socially, this country of explorer Marco Polo and seven World Heritage sites should be more embracing of Roma brothers and sisters.
Talking about Croatia, Croatia National Tourist Board claims: "Songs extol justice and love, indeed a love for justice and fairness in whatever kind of love..”. Croatia should show some of that love, fairness, and justice to its Roma minority also, Rajan Zed pointed out.
Meanwhile, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg recently stated: “Systematic efforts are also necessary to ensure access of Roma to employment, as well as to education in full compliance with the European Court of Human Rights’ judgment in the case of Oršuš and others”.
