Fijians Celebrate Ancestors

“The Fijians in New Zealand will be celebrating, respecting and commemorating the arrival of their ancestors from the Asian, Indian & Afghanistan sub-continent at Fickling Center, Three Kings, Auckland on Friday May 14, 2010 from 7pm to 9pm” Alton Shameem JP the Founder and President of Fiji Club of New Zealand (FCNZ) said today at Takapuna, North Shore City, Auckland the Multi-cultural City.

“Huge turnout of Fijians are expected at the celebration to reflect on their ancestors and the significant economic, social and political contributions they and their descendants made to Fiji, pacific region and internationally” Alton Shameem the native Fijian, Chairman and President of Fiji Club of New Zealand (FCNZ) said.

“ My great-great maternal grandfather Rahmatullah Khan was on the board the first ship Leonidas that brought the workers to Fiji to work in the sugar cane plantations on May 14, 1879” Alton Shameem the Community Leader and President of Fiji Club of New Zealand (FCNZ) said.

“The New Zealander- Fijians are industriously continuing the process of nation building both for our motherland Fiji and our adopted country New Zealand for the benefit and greater good of all peoples” Alton Shameem the indigenous Fijian-New Zealander said.

“Let’s all get together and make the celebration, reverence and commemoration a memorable one for all to cherish” Alton Shameem the native Fijian and President of Fiji Club of New Zealand (FCNZ) said.
