Solomon Islands And Cyprus Establish Diplomatic Relations
The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to the United Nations, Ambassador Minas Hadjimichael and the Permanent Representative of the Solomon Islands to the United Nations Mr Collin D. Beck signed, on 5 May, an agreement for the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cyprus and the Solomon Islands.
The two Ambassadors expressed satisfaction for the agreement, which will strengthen the relations and friendly bonds between the two countries.
In a joint press release the wish of both governments to work for the development and strengthening of their friendship and cooperation in the political, economic, social and humanitarian fields and according to the principles and the rules of international law and the UN charter was expressed.
The mutual conviction, that the establishment of diplomatic relations serves the national interests of both countries and will assist in the establishment of world peace and security as well as in the peaceful coexistence of peoples, was also expressed.
