Osanloo ‘brutalised’ in Iranian jail
The ITF has reacted with shock and anger to reports that Mansour Osanloo could be being violently abused in Rajai Shahr prison.
HRANA (Human Rights Activists News Agency) has reported that Osanloo was moved to what they describe as the ‘Addicts Ward’ of the jail following an intervention by a prisoner guilty of a double murder. HRANA alleges that the prisoner was acting on instructions from the prison authorities.
ITF General Secretary David Cockroft stated: “This move appears designed to allow Mansour to be assaulted at whim, away from public attention.”
He continued: “We are today bringing this latest blatant abuse of power to the attention of the International Labour Organization, and by personal complaint to the Iranian authorities, on whom we once again call to respect fundamental human decency and stop this persecution of an innocent man.”
