ICRC president to visit Kyrgyzstan
Geneva/Bishkek (ICRC) – The president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Jakob Kellenberger, is on his way to Kyrgyzstan. During a one-day visit on 29 June he will hold talks with Roza Otunbayeva, who heads the interim government, on a range of humanitarian issues following the recent violence that rocked the south of the country.
During his visit, the ICRC president will also travel to the southern city of Osh to get a first-hand look at the situation on the ground and learn more about the needs of people still displaced or on their way back home.
