Donations reaching needy in Pakistan
TEAR Fund NZ is assuring donors that all donations it receives for Pakistan will not fall into the wrong hands, as fears of corruption appear in the media.
Executive director Stephen Tollestrup said, “Our organisation works through trusted NGOs rather than governments, and we get regular updates from the field along with photos of our workers distributing aid. We are confident that aid is getting through to the people in need and not falling into the hands of terrorist organisations as has been suggested by some media. ”
He said, TEAR Fund’s partners had been working in Pakistan for many years and were committed to being there until the country recovers from this catastrophe and beyond.
“The aid effort needed is huge and the safest way to ensure donations got to the field was to give to NGOS the Kiwi public trusted.”
