HMAS Launceston Sailor Named
The Royal Australian Navy can now confirm that the sailor who passed away on board the Armidale Class Patrol boat HMAS /Launceston/ on Tuesday was Able Seaman Cook Jay Wilkie.
The Northern Territory Coroner is now investigating the circumstances behind AB Wilkie’s death. Speculation by one media outlet on the cause of death is not only inaccurate but also distressing to Jay’s family and his shipmates.
The RAN will make no further comment on the cause of death until the NT Coroner has produced his findings.
