Freelancer.com Dominates Anthill Cool Company Awards Scooping Global Growth Award and Best Online Business

SYDNEY, Dec. 17, 2010 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ --

Freelancer.com, the world's largest outsourcing marketplace which connects small business with freelancers from around the world, today took out the Global Growth Award and Best Online Business at the Anthill Cool Company Award Ceremony in Melbourne. In its fifth year, the Cool Company Awards had over 700 organisations nominated, making it the largest business award program in Australia.

According to Anthill Magazine, "The Cool Company Awards celebrates Australian organisations that are doing things differently to bring about positive change. Cool Companies manage to stay one step ahead of the rest. They breed leaders who are rule-makers and rule-breakers. They are organisations that aspire to be admired. They are trend-setters in attitude and action. Quite simply, they are... cool!"

The Global Growth Award will be awarded to an Australian company that has achieved outstanding global growth or demonstrated the potential to expand outside of its traditional boundaries and grow globally, through innovative or entrepreneurial means. The winner demonstrates the value of 'clever thinking' to global expansion.

The Online Business Award was developed to recognise Australian businesses that are harnessing online models to achieve positive commercial outcomes. Judges considered the novelty and/or innovative nature of the business model in the Australian marketplace.

"The Cool Company Awards are extremely egalitarian," said James Tuckerman, Editor-In-Chief, Anthill Magazine. "Previous winners have included two-person start-ups, not-for-profit social enterprises, large private companies and publicly-listed corporations. Judging takes into account far more than mere business variables, such as revenue and wealth. The criteria is geared to consider other qualities, from the disruptive nature of the product or service to the culture of the organisation."

"We're thrilled to win two awards against such a fantastic field of the top 700 businesses in Australia!", said Matt Barrie, Chief Executive of Freelancer.com. "This is truly testament to the calibre and hard work of the Freelancer.com team."
