American Singer to Rock IUCN’s World

American Singer to Rock IUCN’s World

Background: Alison Sudol, the American alternative singer, songwriter and pianist has been named as IUCN’s Goodwill Ambassador for the United States. Alison has been described as one of the most talented young singers and songwriters today and has been in the charts in the United States, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland and France, among other countries. Her music has been featured on television shows such as The Late Show with David Letterman and House, and on the soundtrack of the film Sleepwalking.

Alison says that the natural world has had a deep impact on her throughout her life and that she finds nature a great source of inspiration for her work - she makes a reference to nature in almost every song she writes. She says she intends to spread the word on issues close to the heart of IUCN on Twitter, where she has more than half a million followers, making her one of the top ten artists on the social networking service.

Quotes:“It was both a surprise and a tremendous honor to be asked to become a Goodwill Ambassador for IUCN. I’m very excited about working with this wonderful organization,” says Alison Sudol, IUCN Goodwill Ambassador. “As part of this, I would like to find new ways to engage people, especially those of my generation and younger, in conservation and regeneration of their environment. I think that there are so many people out there who want to do something to help, but don't know how, and as an artist, I have a platform, a way of talking to them and giving them some ideas.”
