Sydney - A forum titled, 'Pakistan is asking for freedom' was organised in Lakemba (Sydney) by Pakistani Australian Federation (PAF) and Voice of Tribune on Saturday, 7th of May, 2011.

The aim of this forum was to debate on the appalling situation in Pakistan and conveys the feelings of Pakistanis living in Sydney to their fellow Pakistanis in Pakistan and the Pakistani Government though the media.

The representatives of Pakistani organisations in Australia; intellectuals, journalists and youth took part in this forum as speakers. They commonly showed their extreme discontents and agony over the terrible conditions of Pakistan especially recent raid and murder of Osama Bin Laden by the Americans on Pakistani soil. Speakers showed their fear about Pakistan's future and appeal to their fellow Pakistanis in Pakistan to save Pakistan by unitedly and firmly stand-up against the corrupt and incapable leaders.

The senior community leader and Patron of PAF, Dr. Ali Sarfraz, addressing to the Pakistani community said that the Pakistanis in and outside Pakistan should stand-up against their corrupt leaders before it would be too late.

President Tehreek-e-Insaf Australia, Mr. Mehmood Chaddar in his speech said that the people of Pakistan should select those leaders who have clean past and present and who could unite the nation. Founder of Pushtoon Peace Forum and Organiser of World Pushtoon Federation, Mr. Ali Nangyal said that unfortunately, the aim to create Pakistan was never achieved, Pakistani nation failed to make Pakistan as the Pakistan of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal.

He said that the people of Pakistan has never received full justice and complete rights in Pakistan. Representative of MQM, Mr. Asif Shaikh in speech highlighted the aims and resolutions of MQM and its leader Altaf Hussain for Pakistan.

He said MQM's mission is to eliminate the feudal culture of Pakistan and transfer the power of the state to the true representative of the common people of Pakistan.

Mr. Aijaz Ahmed, an intellectual, said that the people of Pakistan need to come out from their short and vested interests and unite as one Pakistani to save the country. He said, the Pakistani nation needs to follow the vision of the founder of Pakistan.

Kamran Yousaf, a professional, highlighting the solutions for the nation and to make Pakistan safe and secure place for everyone, said that Pakistan could only be saved when if we could implement a fair justice system, good education system and competent law & order system in the country.

Mr. Tanveir Rizvi, a public advocate, said that until the feudal and tribal system continues in Pakistan nothing can be changed. He praised the organiser especially, Syed Atiq ul Hassan, for holding the forum and emphasis to organise more events like this.

Another, speaker, Tariq Khan also talked about the current situation of Pakistan. He said that Pakistan was passing through a testing time and the entire nation has to work together to get the country out from the problems.

A well-known debater and journalist, Mrs. Shafaq Arif Jaffery, said that entire nation is passing through a trauma, the hearts are broken, minds are frozen and nation doesn't understand who to believe.

A youth representative and a journalist Miss Sarwat Hassan said that the Pakistani youth in Australia. Today, we feel ashamed after the shocking finding of Osama Bin Laden from Pakistan and killed by American forces in a military operation. Full of emotions in her tone, tears in her eyes and a cry in her voice when Sarwat talked about how young Pakistanis, in jobs, in colleges and universities are facing embarrassment when interacting with other people after the death of Osama in Pakistan.

Criticising the current government and security agencies of Pakistan, speakers said it was a shame that Osama Bin Laden was in Pakistan and Pakistani security agencies wasn't aware about him. Pakistanis are now looked by the world as crooked and liars but fact of the matter is that people of Pakistan are the most victim of Al-Quaeda and Taliban's terrorism. This is all due to the failed policies of the present government. Today, Pakistan has not only been suffered by the external forces and by enemy of Pakistan but by our own rulers.

A well-known Pakistan's advocate and patriotic poet, Mr. Salik Hameed Khawaja received lot of applauds from the attendees when he recited his revolutionary poetry. The host of forum, Syed Atiq ul Hassan, highlighted the current situation, peoples' reaction and the solutions to rescue Pakistan from the problems, in between the speakers' address.

He also affirmed to hold more forums like this in order create awareness among the Pakistani community in Australia and also to send messages to back home (in Pakistan) to the nation, political leaders and power-brokers.
