Let Services and Amenities Fee Bill Pass Through the Senate
Australian University Sport (AUS) and the Australasian Campus Union Managers Association (ACUMA) have been lobbying in partnership for the return of a student services and amenities fee for more than 5 years now. It is now the will of the majority of the Senate, and overwhelming will of the university sector to see this Bill passed in the Senate.
“The Bill’s passage will enable universities to fund and rebuild vital services on campus that have been hit hard by VSU legislation; students on campus now deserve the opportunity for stronger engagement and a better quality higher education experience”, stated ACUMA President Tom O’Sullivan.
“This Bill has the unanimous support of NUS, CAPA, AACA, Universities Australia, ACUMA and AUS, plus numerous campus service provider organisations. It is time the Coalition moved aside and let democracy run its course in the Senate”, added AUS CEO Don Knapp.
