ITF Comment On Rail Lobby Tomorrow
24 October 2011
The ITF today applauded the British trade unions staging a rally and mass lobby of parliament tomorrow in opposition to the closures and cuts recommended by the McNulty Report, a review of the UK’s railways.
ITF railway section secretary Mac Urata commented: “This promises to be a pivotal action in the fight to prevent the bleak future of cuts promised if McNulty is implemented.”
He continued “Our member unions – Aslef, the RMT and TSSA – are leading the resistance to this ill-timed review. They and their members, other campaigners, passenger groups and trade unionists will be showing why the government must reject this plan.”
The Save our Railways rally and lobby of Parliament will take place tomorrow, 25 October, from 12.30 at Methodist Central Hall, Westminster, London
