WTO PUBLIC FORUM 2012 — 24-26 September 2011 “Is Multilateralism in Crisis?”

The 2012 Public Forum will provide an opportunity for relevant stakeholders of the multilateral trading system to analyse whether multilateralism is in a state of crisis, taking into account both the Doha Round deadlock and elements of the WTO work programme that continue to work well. These include monitoring and surveillance, the administration of the existing rule-book, capacity building and technical assistance. The areas in need of new regulations, or which offer scope for future rule-making and the new geo-economical context in which the WTO operates will also be among the topics for discussion.

The following core themes will provide the structure for this year’s Forum: formulating new approaches to multilateral trade opening; addressing 21st-century issues and; looking at the role of non-state actors in strengthening the multilateral trading system.

Civil society representatives interested in organizing a session during the 2012 Public Forum should fill out the Call for Proposals Form by 11 May 2012.

FORO PÚBLICO DE LA OMC 2012 — 24-26 de septiembre de 2012 “¿Está en crisis el multilateralismo?”

El Foro Público 2012 ofrecerá una oportunidad para que los participantes pertinentes en el sistema multilateral de comercio analicen la cuestión de si el multilateralismo se encuentra en crisis, teniendo en cuenta tanto el estancamiento de la Ronda de Doha como los elementos del programa de trabajo de la OMC que siguen funcionando correctamente.
