'I Am Neda' is a Finalist at the American Pavilion Sanctioned by Cannes
'I Am Neda' Director Nicole Kian Sadighi and Persepolis Pictures is extremely excited to announce that 'I Am Neda' has been selected as one of 3 short films to be presented at the American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival, May 2012!!!!
"I received a wonderful call from Monika
Skerbelis, Director of American Pavilion’s Emerging
Filmmaker Showcase, to congratulate me on becoming a
finalist. To say that I was overly excited would not do my
sentiments any justice, recieving this tremendous news is a
great sense of achievement for me as a first time director,
writer, producer. At the same time in amongst the
celebratons, it is also a time to reflect and contemplate
why I began walking the path to make this movie in the first
place. A moment in history, that was engulfed in tragedy,
an inspiring legacy that Neda left behind. I made a vow to
uphold her legacy and memory and; that of all the Neda’s
of the world who don’t have a voice. No matter what
language we speak, I hope that voice can be reflected in
this movie 'I Am Neda'. That can be the power of film. No
matter what subject matter you are dealing with and that's
what I've hoped to achieve.”
