Khater: The Elections Need The Right Atmosphere

CAIRO, (PIC)-- Member of Hamas's political bureau Sami Khater said the holding of elections in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip is absolutely contingent on providing the appropriate atmosphere.
Khater told the London-based Al-Hayat newspaper on Sunday that the portfolios would be chosen consensually including the sovereign ones and the prime ministry.
He added that independent and technocratic figures will be named for the portfolios.
He stressed the need to provide the atmosphere in the West Bank before holding the elections through ending all security campaigns against members and supporters of other factions.
The official also said the formation of the government would be announced in a meeting between Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal and Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas after the delegations of the two sides end their preliminary talks.
He noted that the central election commission would start its mission Sunday and would embark on arranging the voter registration information.
However, the commission led by Hanna Naser arrived in Gaza on Monday morning to meet with Palestinian premier Haneyya and initiate its work.
