DDG RUGWABIZA CALLS ON ECOSOC TO FIGHT PROTECTIONISM
Deputy Director-General Valentine Rugwabiza, on 3 July 2012 in New York, called on the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) “to use its mandate and legitimacy to make sure that G20 members respect their pledge to resist protectionism. This is in the best interest of the ECOSOC as the cost of protectionism is borne by all its members”.

LA DIRECTRICE GÉNÉRALE ADJOINTE, MME RUGWABIZA, DEMANDE À L’ECOSOC DE LUTTER CONTRE LE PROTECTIONNISME
Le 3 juillet 2012 à New York, la Directrice générale adjointe, Mme Valentine Rugwabiza, a demandé au Conseil économique et social des Nations Unies (ECOSOC) “d’utiliser son mandat et sa légitimité pour faire en sorte que les membres du G20 respectent l’engagement qu’ils ont pris de résister au protectionnisme”. “C’est dans l’intérêt de l’ECOSOC, étant donné que le coût du protectionnisme est supporté par tous ses membres”, a-t-elle ajouté.

El 3 de julio de 2012, en Nueva York, la Directora General Adjunta Valentine Rugwabiza pidió al Consejo Económico y Social de las Naciones Unidas (ECOSOC) “que utilice su mandato y su legitimidad para garantizar que los miembros del G20 respetan su compromiso de resistir el proteccionismo. Ello redunda en interés del ECOSOC, ya que el costo del proteccionismo recae en todos sus miembros”.
