Praise to the Lord Almighty
God,
We, the leaders of UIWPC would like to write our
very deeply concerned appeal to your good office. As public
aware upon serious human sufferings and victims for your
Christian community of Melanesian people under the 50 years
of Asian country of Indonesia occupation indicated that it
clearly far away of regional community attention especially
from our regional leaders. The religious leaders and many of
un-sinned of Melanesian is being targeted and been killed,
persecuted and tortured even burn out Churches and its
facilities including destroying lifestyle to survive on this
holly and God created land. Indonesian colonial practices
definitely has been involved crimes against humanity as well
as Gospel rules, consequently no opportunity to do faith
based activities and ritual due to climate of fear
increasing who is facing by God fearing pacific innocent
population of West Papua almost over a half century.
We
recognised same though between our pacific cultural values
or norms and the European Christian values which the both
maintain human dignity and salvation for the all people and
nations around the world. During Dutch time, West Papuan
have involved in annual meeting by official delegation as
founder members at Pacific Conference of Churches (PCC) back
in 1960s, since Indonesian settlement until at present no
clear space to share worship together and develop our
religious values to support peace and security agenda for
our oceanic continent. Today, we only convey our misery and
tears by this letter to our beloved Pacific brothers and
sisters. However, we strongly respect our ethnical and
cultural identity as a pacific native kinship that never and
will ever end from our mind and soul despite imposing by
whatever colonial force therefore, we would like to ask your
assistance that through PCC need to:
1. Ask PIF
Government to need a regional wisdom and reaction in
resolving human suffering and the human rights
violation.
2. Encourage World Church leaders and
international faith based institution regarding the
humanitarian crisis of West Papua,
3. Encourage to
World Catholic Church Leader or Pope as observer members at
the United Nations General Assembly to advice state members
to take peaceful solution ends long enduring conflict
between Indonesian government and pacific people of West
Papua.
This aspiration represents our future hopes
for peace, safety, salvation and freedom from the Indonesian
military regime. Christian pacific people in West Papua
have been slow genocide on the rich natural resource and
beautiful country. Eventually, we give our gratitude and
prayer for future generation of Pacific. God will grant a
good wisdom for you all.
God Bless Our Pacific
