Australia’s Iconic House Gets Behind People Without A Home
The Sydney Opera House will get behind the 2013 Vinnies CEO Sleepout as it plays host to the national launch of the event on Wednesday 10 April 2013.
Participating in the launch will be Sydney Opera House CEO, Louise Herron and Sexual Discrimination Commissioner, Elizabeth Broderick, who will both be sleeping out for the first time in Sydney.
The St Vincent de Paul Society will use the launch as an opportunity to call on both sides of government to recommit to the 2008 Road to Home White Paper’s call for a halving of homelessness by 2020.
“It is imperative that both sides of the political fence commit to finding real and lasting solutions to homelessness. There is still a need to ensure that services can intervene early to break the cycle of homelessness by providing sustainable housing and improving social and economic participation,” says St Vincent de Paul Society National CEO, Dr John Falzon.
