South Africa: Police Have Attacked Marikana Land Occupation
The Police Have Attacked the Marikana Land Occupation
The Anti-Land Invasion Unit, supported by the police, has attacked the Marikana Land Occupation. Shacks have been demolished; comrades have been threatened, assaulted and shot at with rubber bullets. There was no court order and therefore these evictions were illegal, unconstitutional and criminal acts.
Two comrades have been arrested. We are currently marching on the police station to demand the release of the two comrades who are in custody.
