Norfolk Flavour in Favour with Kiwis

Norfolk Flavour in Favour with Kiwis

Auckland, 13 May 2013 New Zealand’s closest international neighbor is finding favour with the kiwi palate as Norfolk Island reports healthy visitor arrival increases from this country.

At the third quarter results of the 12/13 year, Norfolk Island is reporting a cumulative 12% increase on visitor arrivals with nearly 60% of those being first time visitors to the island.

A recent visitor satisfaction and experience survey conducted by Norfolk Island Tourism reports accommodation, tour experiences, holiday enjoyment and national parks as hitting the ‘excellent’ mark with respondents.

At just 1.5hr from Auckland, Norfolk Island offers a diverse range of experiences, many of which are history and nature based for visitors and a surprising array of culinary offerings, many of which showcase the island’s strong organic and biodynamic produce culture. From cooking classes that make use of the island’s great ‘gate to plate’ food philosophy where food source is measured in metres not miles, to restaurants and cafes, Kiwis will not hunger for anything but could well uncover some incredible new experiences.

With Emily Bay beach being listed in Australia’s top beaches and with much of the island dedicated as a National Park, Norfolk Island is a nature and history lovers paradise.
