Polyplastics Launches Marketing of Second-generation Liquid Crystal Polymer LAPEROS
Polyplastics Co., Ltd. announced on May 16 the market launch of LAPEROS (R), a new brand of liquid crystal polymer (LCP) for electronic component applications. Polyplastics was successful in developing this second-generation LCP that gives higher performance and has a better balance of properties than the LCP it currently offers.
An LCP is a resin that has excellent thermal resistance, flow, mechanical, and molding properties. It is widely used mainly for manufacturing electric and electronic devices and has played a particularly large role in enabling more compact and thinner state-of-the-art electronic components. Polyplastics enjoys an excellent reputation with a broad base of users of the VECTRA (R) LCP product lineup it has offered for many years. However, demand for increasingly compact and thinner electronic components is a trend that is expected to continue, and the market has advanced to a new stage of demand for further evolution of LCP performance. In order to respond to such market demand, Polyplastics has been working on development of a second-generation LCP for several years. The LAPEROS (R) GA series and SA series are now ready for market launch.
LAPEROS (R) is an LCP with a newly developed polymer base using Polyplastics' own molecular design technology that is the accumulation of years of LCP research and development. The LAPEROS (R) GA series and SA series of products being launched have an excellent balance of properties that maintains the superior thermal resistance and mechanical properties of the current LCP product lineup while greatly improving flow, and also offering good low-warp and dimensional stability properties.
Since it began marketing LCP resin in 1985, Polyplastics has expanded its LCP product lineup to meet a variety of application needs and diverse use conditions. The lineup includes the VECTRA (R) A series with superior mechanical properties, the VECTRA (R) Ei series with excellent thermal resistance, and the VECTRA (R) S series that combines high-level thermal resistance and good flow properties.
In addition to its VECTRA (R) LCP product lineup, the market launch of the next-generation LCP LAPEROS (R) GA series and SA series is expected to further increase the range of uses for LCP in manufacturing increasingly compact and sophisticated state-of-the-art electronic components. Moving forward, Polyplastics intends to further expand the LAPEROS (R) product lineup to be able to respond in a timely manner to the evolving and diverse needs of customers.
