Remarks At American Chamber of Commerce Event In Bangladesh
Remarks
Jose W.
Fernandez
Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Economic and
Business Affairs
Dhaka, Bangladesh
May 26, 2013
Will we see more investment in Bangladesh, in the areas that are needed in this country? In investment, in infrastructure, in water, in electricity, in many other aspects. And will they continue to think of a country with improving child mortality rates, with dramatic reductions in poverty, which is something that the world has recognized in Bangladesh. Or will they think of a tainted brand? Will they think of a country where workers rights or safety codes are ignored and lead to tragedy? That is the inflection point that we see ourselves today.
