Ukrainian Government to Comprehensively Combat Raiding
Ukrainian Government Is Going to Comprehensively Combat Raiding
The government is doing everything possible to protect the rights of foreign investors in Ukraine and activates combating against illegal acquisition and takeover of enterprises. The First Vice Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov said this during the meeting with EU ambassadors and other representatives of the diplomatic corps.
"Existence of corporate raiding is a stain on the national economy’s reputation. This is a game where investor loses and the bigger loss will be for Ukraine itself. Therefore, combating against illegal acquisitions and takeovers foresees two steps. First one is recognition that the problem exists and second one is beginning of systematic work on its resolving "- said Serghiy Arbuzov.
He mentioned that on May 27 the Government not only recommenced the work but enlarged the powers of Interdepartmental Commission on Investor Rights Protection and Combating Illegal Acquisition and Takeover of Enterprises, governed by Serghiy Arbuzov.
"We are very serious about taking comprehensive measures" – underlined the First Vice Prime Minister. He said that in order to be successful and realize its full potential, Ukraine has to ensure that each investor is protected by the State. "To managed this, each of government branch - judicial, executive, legislative has to change its way of thinking" - said the First Vice Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov. Large-scale reforms initiated by the President of Ukraine are aimed at this change.
"I hope that Ukraine's progress on the way towards reforms will be a serious argument for supporting our common intention on signing Ukraine-EU Association Agreement At Vilnius Summit", - said Serhiy Arbuzov.
Representatives of the foreign countries diplomatic corps have expressed support for the initiatives of the Ukrainian Government. Thus, the Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Ian Tombinski thanked Serhiy Arbuzov for the Commission formation, mentioned that the Government of Ukraine actively respond to the diplomats request in solving various investors problems.
"Ukraine has to create macro not micro environment for business activities. We call it - "equal level playing field" where all have equal rights and access to businesses. This is a prerequisite for confidence in Ukraine from investors of all countries, not only the EU ", - he added.
