Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the United States of America Celebrated the 225th Anniversary of the Liman Battle with Kherson Residents

Chairman of the Regional State Administration Mykola Kostyak, Chairman of the Regional Council Viktor Pelykh and Acting Chairman of Kherson City Council Zoya Berezhna along with her deputies took part in the celebrations to mark the 225th anniversary of the Liman Battle.
The event was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Ukraine John F. Tefft and Oleg Golovatiy - a descendant of Antin Golovatiy, who was the last naval commander of the Period of Ukrainian Cossack fleet.

The Construction of the Olympic Aquatics Centre in Tsiurupynsk Was Discussed In the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine

This week, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine held a working meeting on the construction of the Olympic Aquatics Centre in Tsiurupynsk, which is originated in order to implement the objectives and social initiatives of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to involve children in physical culture and sports and promote healthy lifestyle. This was announced by the Head of the Department of Regional Development, Urban Planning and Architecture of the RSA, the Chief Architect of Hryhoriy Khodin.

"The Olympic Centre will be built on the Conca river, near the Tsiurupynsk quay. It demands the suspended design decisions and integrity of builders, so a conscientious approach is expected from bidders," - said Hryhoriy Khodin.

Kherson "Jin Roh" Surprised 10,000 Spectators

Kherson fire broke out this year at a major international festival of fire in Kyiv - Kiev Fire Fest. On June 16, fire show from the variety-circus studio «Jin Roh» on the stage in Kyiv was shown to more than 10,000 spectators.

Fire Theatre of Kherson studio on June 12, went to Kyiv at the VII International Festival of Fire. On Tuesday morning, June 18, the team came back with a small part of the Fire Phoenix in the heart. Adequately and effectively they presented the hometown at KFF-2013.

Kherson Shipyard Launched A Complete Tanker

Deputy Head of the Regional State Administration Valentyn Pidvysotskiy attended the grand launching of the tanker of project RST27 "SVL UNITY" - the third vessel in a series of tankers that Kherson Shipyard builds on request of Group of companies SVL (Malta).
This ship is designed for marine and mixed ("river-sea") transportation of crude oil and petroleum products, including gasoline, without restrictions for flash temperature, as well as ensuring the simultaneous transportation of two types of cargo.

U.S. Ambassador John Tefft Was Made A Cossack

In Kherson the American Ambassador John Tefft was made a Cossak. This was reported on the official site of the First National Channel. The news say that on June 17, 2013 in Kherson celebrations were held to mark the 225th anniversary of the Liman Battle, which were attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Ukraine John F. Tefft.

In response to this the U.S. ambassador gave the leaders of the city the biography books of John Paul Jones, translated into Ukrainian.

Festival "Kherson Dionysius" Is Becoming a Tradition

On the quay of Park Slavy, a festival "Kherson Dionysius" took place.

Wine Festival has become a tradition for our city. Several years ago, the festival was first held in the lobby of the Kherson Drama Theatre, and last year it was held on the City Day.
The current "Kherson Dionysius" was held in parallel with the celebration of the 225th anniversary of the Liman Battle. Kherson residents saw choreographed show featuring Cossack organizations of Zaporizhzhya, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. Amazing performance on the bank of the Dnipro rever was the work of Sergiy Shvydkiy - choreographer of the National Academic Drama Theater named after Ivan Franko.
