Washington, DC
September 9, 2013
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will participate in a Google+ Hangout hosted by New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof and Lara Setrakian, founder of the digital news site Syria Deeply, at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 10.
The Hangout – entitled, “Syria: Weighing the U.S. Response” - will also feature Andrew Beiter, a social studies teacher and a regional education coordinator for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
This roundtable discussion will focus on President Obama’s decision to seek congressional approval for a limited military strike to deter and degrade Syria’s use of chemical weapons, and Secretary Kerry will have an opportunity to answer questions submitted by online viewers.
Secretary Kerry's participation in this event represents ongoing efforts to explain why taking action to hold the Assad regime accountable for its violation of international norms is important to American interests and security.
The hangout can be viewed live on State.gov and Google+.
