2014
Ambassador Thomas A. Shannon, Counselor of the Department of State, will travel to Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras, November 3-5.
Ambassador Shannon will meet with senior government officials and private sector representatives in each of the three countries to discuss security, governance, and economic prosperity.
This trip will provide an opportunity to follow-up President Obama’s meeting with his counterparts from these three countries in July and Secretary of State John Kerry’s meeting with the foreign ministers of El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras at the UN General Assembly in September.
Ambassador Shannon’s trip is in advance of Vice President Biden’s participation in “Investing in Central America: Unlocking Opportunities for Development,” a conference hosted by the Inter-American Development Bank on November 14.
