Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration Anne C. Richard will travel to Brussels, Belgium,December 8-9, and Geneva, Switzerland, December 9-11.
In Brussels, Assistant Secretary Richard will participate in the thirteenth plenary meeting of the Transatlantic Council on Migration – “Refitting the Global Protection System to Meet the Challenges of Modern Crises.”
In Geneva, on December 9, Assistant Secretary Richard will attend a conference on Syrian refugee resettlement, hosted by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
From December 10 to 11, Assistant Secretary Richard will participate in UNHCR’s seventh High Commissioner's Dialogue on Protection Challenges. This year’s dialogue focuses on the theme of protection at sea and will inform the implementation of a two-year Global Initiative on Protection at Sea, which aims to support State action to limit loss of life at sea as well as exploitation, abuse, and violence.
