The United States is deeply saddened by the tragic accident today during Carnival celebrations in Port-au-Prince. We extend our sincere condolences to the families and friends of those who were killed and we wish for the speedy recovery of the injured. The accident is all the more saddening coming during Haiti’s national festivities for Carnival. During this difficult time our thoughts and prayers are with the people and government of Haiti.
