We welcome the formation of a new government in the Republic of Moldova. We look forward to working with Prime Minister Gaburici and to seeing quick action on necessary reforms for the benefit of the Moldovan people, including the implementation of the EU Association Agreement as Moldova continues on its path of European integration.
The United States remains committed to assisting Moldova as it fights corruption and promotes reforms that spread the benefits of European integration. As an observer to the 5+2 negotiation process and a committed supporter of its goals, we will continue to seek a comprehensive and peaceful settlement to the Transnistria conflict, supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova with a special status for Transnistria.
The citizens of Moldova voted for a more prosperous future as a European democracy, and we look forward to supporting the new government as it carries out its mandate to serve the interests of all members of Moldovan society.
