Dr. Ashrawi: On hate crimes against Palestinians
Dr. Ashrawi: “Such hate crimes constitute a deliberate attack on all Palestinians, whether Muslim or Christian”
PLO Executive Committee member Dr. Hanan Ashrawi strongly denounced the recent torching and vandalism of al-Huda mosque in the village of al-Jaba, west of Bethlehem, and a Greek Orthodox seminary in Jerusalem:
“Such hate crimes constitute a flagrant attack on all Palestinians, whether Muslim or Christian. These are not isolated incidents, but rather, they fit a longstanding pattern of deliberate provocation, extremism and violence, and are a vicious assault on all Palestinians and their holy sites.
These acts of terror are the direct result of Israel’s policies of occupation and racism and the impunity that Israel continues to enjoy at the expense of the rights and lives of the Palestinian people.
The recent events indicate that a holy war is already being waged against the Palestinian Muslim and Christian population, and we call on the international community to undertake immediate action and hold Israel and its illegal settler population accountable with punitive measures for these crimes and acts of religious intolerance and bigotry.”
