Save the Children Disaster Experts Travelling to Vanuatu
Seven disaster experts from Save the Children are on their way to Vanuatu to assist the in-country team already based in Vanuatu.
Due to arrive later today, the team from Australia and New Zealand includes disaster response specialists in health, shelter, livelihood support, water, sanitation and communications.
Save the Children teams on the ground have been visiting emergency centres overnight to identify needs and build up an accurate picture of their locations across the country.
Teams
are preparing to distribute emergency supplies
including:
• equipment to provide clean water
to communities
• emergency shelter kits for
home repairs
• hygiene equipment to keep
communities clean, safe and healthy
• essential
household items including blankets and mattresses
Save the Children has 24 staff in Port Vila and 18 staff based in the outer islands. We are the largest aid agency in Vanuatu and have been working there for 30 years.
Save the Children has launched an urgent appeal to provide essential emergency supplies for children and families in Vanuatu. Donations can be made online to our Vanuatu Emergency Appeal.
