Under Secretary Richard Stengel will travel to Jakarta, Indonesia April 14–15. While in Jakarta, Under Secretary Stengel will meet with the U.S. Ambassador to Indonesia and U.S. Embassy staff. He will also meet the U.S. Ambassador to ASEAN. Under Secretary Stengel will meet with Indonesian officials, civil society leaders, and deliver a speech on “The Democratization of Information: Opportunities in a Changing Media Landscape” at the high-tech American cultural center,@america.
Under Secretary Stengel will then visit Singapore from April 15-17 to attend Singapore’s East Asia Summit Symposium on countering violent extremism. He will also meet with the U.S. Ambassador, U.S. Embassy staff, attend the Southeast Asian Youth Positive Messaging Forum, and the Singapore Fulbright Association’s annual dinner. Under Secretary Stengel will also meet with journalism students, members of civil society, and local religious groups.
