P&O Cruises’ Pacific Pearl Carries Humanitarian Aid To Help Vanuatu Rebuild
P&O Cruises’ superliner Pacific Pearl will sail for Vanuatu on Sunday with a precious cargo of humanitarian aid to help the region rebuild following Cyclone Pam.
The 10-night cruise to New Caledonia and Vanuatu will now double as a humanitarian aid mission with dozens of pallets of vital supplies being loaded onto the ship for delivery to Port Vila on Saturday April 25.
Supplies include rice, tinned food, batteries, water, water purification tablets, clothing, bedding, hygiene products and a special delivery of hundreds of handcrafted quilts from across the country.
Matamata resident Caroline Mason, who was behind the quilt drive, will join the cruise to deliver an estimated 400 quilts donated by New Zealanders to bring some comfort to those affected by the cyclone.
Caroline and a P&O Cruises’ spokesperson will be available for comment.
