Riots in Baltimore – National Guard Sent in [graphic images]. Update: State of Emergency Delcared

Riots have broken out in Baltimore following the funeral of Freddie Gray, a 25 year old black man who died from injuries sustained while in police custody.

5,000 troops from the National Guard are being sent in to quell the unrest and Mayor Rawlings-Blake has imposed a citywide 10pm curfew for this week which will come into effect tomorrow.

15 police officers have been injured so far, while journalists and cameramen have been assaulted and had equipment stolen.

Schools in Baltimore will be closed for the day tomorrow in case the rioting continues.

David Simon, creator of the popular Baltimore-set crime show The Wire has called for a halt to the violence.
