US Pacific Fleet Commander Visiting New Zealand
Admiral (ADM) Scott Swift, Commander of the US Navy’s Pacific Fleet, arrived in Wellington today for a three-day visit to New Zealand, meeting with Royal New Zealand Navy leaders.
The visit is part of a regional tour, and follows last month’s visit by the Commander United States Pacific Command, ADM Harry B Harris. ADM Swift took command of the US Pacific Fleet in May, and has his headquarters at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.
He is being hosted by the Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral (RADM) Jack Steer.
“It’s a pleasure to welcome Admiral Swift to New Zealand for the first time as Pacific Fleet Commander,” RADM Steer said.
“Our fleets work together in a range of areas, and the more we share our knowledge and experience, at all levels, the better and more effective we both are,” he said.
