Time is running out for you to have your say on the TPPA
This Friday, 11 March is the deadline for you to have your say on the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA).
Along with the TPPA, the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee is also accepting your submissions on the four TPPA related intellectual property treaties. Submissions for these also close this Friday. The closing date for receiving submissions on the TPPA has not been extended. Only substantial submissions received after Friday will be considered by the committee on a case-by-case basis.
The submission
process
Submissions received from the public
will be considered by the committee over the next few weeks,
before being made publically available on the Parliament
website (www.parliament.nz).
People who have indicated that they wish to give their submission to the committee in person will be contacted by Parliament’s select committee staff. The committee is considering holding public hearings outside of Wellington, depending on the number of people who wish to be heard in person from each region.
The committee’s
report
When the committee has finished its
consideration of the TPPA and associated treaties, it will
report back to the House of Representatives. The report is
expected to be presented to the House by the end of May
2016.
