New Attorney-General for Samoa congratulated
Ministry of Justice Chief Executive Andrew Bridgman today congratulated senior Public Defence Service lawyer Hermann Retzlaff on his appointment as Attorney-General for Samoa.
“Mr Retzlaff has made a significant contribution to the work the Ministry of Justice’s Public Defence Service in the Auckland region,” Mr Bridgman says.
“Over the last six years he has worked in the Auckland, Manukau and Waitakere offices as a senior lawyer and most recently as Acting Deputy Public Defender on the North Shore.
“In November Mr Retzlaff was one of two Public Defence Service lawyers providing professional leadership at a programme for Pacific Island lawyers in Samoa.”
Mr Bridgman says Mr Retzlaff has taken an active role in the community.
“He is a board member of the Waitemata Community Law Centre and is a past-president of the Pacific Lawyers Association.
“When he takes up the position in 18 April 2016 he will be following in the footsteps of his father Misa Telefoni Retzlaff who was Attorney-General for Samoa from 1986 to 1988.
“I’m sure Mr Retzlaff will be a great asset to the Government of Samoa and my colleagues and I wish him well in the position,” Mr Bridgman says.
