Tim Hunt vs Anthony Taylor for Vacant WBO Oriental title

Australian Tim Hunt to fight New Zealander Anthony Taylor in Melbourne. Promoter Brian Amatruda has confirmed that the two will be the main event on his next show in July.

Hunt has fought in twenty four bouts in his career so far, winning multiple titles including: Australia - Victoria State, Australian National and the WBA - PABA welterweight titles.

Hunt biggest fight in his career was against Yoshihiro Kamegai in 2013 for the WBC - OPBF title, unfortunately he lost the bout by TKO.

Hunts bout against Taylor will be his third time going against a New Zealander in his professional career.

Taylor has fought in fifteen bouts so far in his professional career. Taylor has won multiple titles in both his amateur and professional career, including: two time New Zealand National amateur champion, New Zealand (NZPBA) National Professional Champion and WBU World Champion.

Taylor biggest fight in career was was when he won the WBU World title against Darren Askew. Taylor was knocked down over five times in that bout however according to the commissioning body of the night:

“instead of Askew taking it easy and win on Unanimous Points, he had a "blood rush" to win by knock out, and got caught himself against the ropes. he got battered by many hard shots. The referee watched carefully, and when his eyes rolled back and dropped his hands, the referee stopped the bout at 2 minutes 23 seconds”.

Taylor was scheduled to fight former two time WBO World champion Michael Katsidis in Auckland back in April. However due to the promoter having money problems both boxers pulled out, despite the event still going ahead.

Taylor has stated that this will be the biggest and toughest fight of his career. The two will be fighting for the Vacant WBO Oriental Super Lightweight (Light Welterweight) Title.

The event will be held at Brian Amatruda usual event venue, The Melbourne Pavilion on 29th of July.
