China, Indonesia decline to back
closer UN ties with Pacific Islands
China and Indonesia did not back a United Nations Resolution for closer ties with the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), in a move an expert says was motivated by some Pacific states' positions on Taiwan and West Papua. The Resolution, for the United Nations to cooperate more closely with the Pacific Islands Forum, was overwhelmingly supported in the General Assembly 137-0 last week. But the 12 nations who abstained caught the interest of senior security studies lecturer Dr Anna Powles. According to the UN, China, Indonesia and Russia abstained. Dr Powles, from New Zealand's Massey University said China’s abstentions were not entirely surprising, but disappointing, given its recent statements about working with the Pacific Islands Forum. This UN Resolution enhancing cooperation with the Pacific Islands Forum, West Papua is part of the Pacific Islands Forum now
We almost 80% control the territory of the entire land of West Papua from Indonesia. Last August Papuans did conduct heavy demonstration to demand independence throughout the entire land of West Papua with raised our National Flag “Morning Star”
Indonesia government totally has failed in West Papua with its fear or afraid policy toward West Papua since 2000. Main reason why Indonesia wants to division of West Papua to become an other Provinces is to block independence of West Papua. Accordance to World Bank report last month that West Papua and Papua is poorest Provinces in Indonesia. Papuans people are impoverished by Indonesia.
Indonesia had overridden the Pacific Islands forum Leaders’ letter to constructive dialogue with Indonesia government on West Papua since 2015 until present date. Leaders welcomed the invitation by Indonesia for a mission to West Papua (Papua) by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and strongly encouraged both sides to finalize the timing of the visit and for an evidence-based, informed report on the situation be provided before the next Pacific Islands Forum Leaders meeting in 2020
