Kacific’s CEO Christian Patouraux Recognised With The Outstanding Leadership Award At The Health 2.0 Conference

Singapore, 26 July 2022 – Kacific’s CEO and founder Christian Patouraux has been awarded the Outstanding Leadership Award by the Health 2.0 Conference. His purpose-driven leadership was crucial to Kacific Broadband Satellites Group’s initiative to connect health clinics in Asia Pacific to high-speed satellite broadband and support the COVID-19 pandemic response.

The Health 2.0 Conference spotlights promising advancements and opportunities in the domains of healthcare and wellness. Christian’s achievements as CEO and founder have been instrumental in the success of this initiative, in which 202 healthcare clinics and 260 schools and community hubs were connected in seven countries.

Kacific connects a rural hospital in Sulu, Philippines – Pangutaran District Hospital

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Kacific, under the helm of Mr. Patouraux, identified the need for high-speed connectivity services in remote clinics to ensure the healthcare workers were able to communicate rapidly with central health services.

Working in partnership with GuarantCo, Kacific has also secured a grant from the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG) Technical Assistance to fund terminals to connect health clinics across the regions it served in Asia Pacific. Kacific also used this grant to connect schools and community hubs, to ensure these communities could access up-to-date information.

Kacific offered a package free of charge to healthcare centres, schools and community hubs. This included installation of a free satellite dish, one month’s worth of free internet access and inclusion of Kacific’s Community WiFi system. Under this unique system, the wider community can purchase vouchers to use data. The income from the vouchers sold is subsequently used to fund the clinic's ongoing cost of the service.

Christian’s vision for Kacific is to provide reliable, affordable and high-speed satellite broadband services to all corners of Asia Pacific; and to help governments, businesses, and communities to participate in the digital world.

Kacific’s use of Ka-band technology has led to a price point that is a significant reduction in many markets. Today Kacific’s per GB cost is less than 2% of GNI per capita, well below the affordability targets set by ITU and UNESCO. This price point makes the service more affordable for Government and NGOs providing healthcare services in lower income and remote areas of Asia Pacific.
