Israel Reinforces Humanitarian Commitment Amid Renewed Hostilities
Following Hamas’ repeated rejection of ceasefire proposals—including the latest advanced by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff—Israel has been left with no choice but to resume its military operation. This operation seeks to:
- Secure the release of 58 hostages still held by Hamas,
- Dismantle Hamas’ military infrastructure, and
- Ensure that Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israeli civilians.
As Mr. Bar Tal stated unequivocally, “This war is Hamas’ sole and full responsibility.” The terrorist group launched the war with the massacre of October 7 and continues to prolong it by refusing to release the hostages or lay down its arms. They hold the power to end the conflict—but refuse to do so.
Despite continued aggression from Hamas, Israel remains committed to addressing the humanitarian needs of the civilian population in Gaza. Israel facilitated the entry of over 25,000 humanitarian aid trucks during the recent 42-day ceasefire. Unfortunately, much of this aid was seized and exploited by Hamas for its military and financial purposes—prolonging the conflict and deepening civilian hardship.
In response, Israel has welcomed a new aid framework proposed by the United States, which ensures aid is delivered directly to civilians via secure distribution points, independent of Hamas control. The model is administered by the international GHF fund and is expected to become operational within days.
In the interim, Israel is facilitating the targeted and immediate delivery of:
- Flour for international-run bakeries,
- Ingredients for community kitchens,
- Baby formula, and
- Urgently needed medical supplies.
Coordination with international humanitarian organizations is already underway, with dozens of trucks expected to enter Gaza daily under this transitional arrangement.
Israel continues to operate in accordance with international law, guided by the imperative to protect civilian life—even as it contends with a terrorist organization that initiated and continues to fuel this war.
As Director General Bar
Tal concluded:
“Everyone in the international
community must decide: are they on the side of Israel, or on
the side of
Hamas?”
