Pedaling For The Pontiff: A Guineano Extraordinary Bicycle Tribute Across Poland
Don Victor Mooney recently completed an impressive 1,000-kilometer cycling journey around Poland, undertaken as a heartfelt tribute to Pope Francis.
This monumental endeavor culminated in a personal invitation from the Vatican on June 14th, where Mooney attended the Pope Leo XIV Jubilee Audience for Sports and received the pontiff's blessings.

During this significant occasion, Mooney reflected on the enduring support from President Obiang of Equatorial Guinea, recalling that the President had previously financed his remarkable Atlantic Ocean row in the specially built "Spirit of Malabo."
Mooney profoundly expressed that with every kilometer traversed and "every arduous stride," he felt the "undeniable presence of Equatorial Guinea"—its vibrant spirit and the whispered hopes of its people—ceaselessly fueling his resolve.

He further emphasized that this 1,000-kilometer cycling journey was "not merely an athletic endeavor, but a profound expression of the Equatorial Guinean people's deep affection and unwavering devotion to Pope Francis.
" This deep and personal connection to the nation was formally cemented in 2016 when President Obiang conveyed Equatorial Guinea nationality to Mooney and his family at the Peoples Palace.
