APEC Digital And AI Ministers Issue Joint Statement
Incheon, Republic of Korea, 5 August 2025
Ministers responsible for telecommunications, information and communications technology (ICT) and digital policy issued a joint statement following their meeting in Incheon, Republic of Korea, 4 August 2025.
The statement reflects the outcomes of the first-ever APEC Digital and AI Ministerial Meeting, chaired by Kyunghoon Bae, Minister of Science and ICT of the Republic of Korea.
It outlines the collective commitment of APEC economies to advance responsible digital transformation and trusted artificial intelligence (AI) development in support of the region’s prosperity and sustainable growth.
The joint statement highlights action in three key areas:
- Facilitating digital and AI innovation to address socio-economic challenges
- Enhancing digital connectivity for all
- Creating a safe, secure and reliable digital and AI ecosystem
Ministers also recognized Korea’s leadership in developing a new APEC AI initiative by the end of 2025 and called for continued momentum beyond to advance the APEC Internet and Digital Economy Roadmap.
