International Day Of Solidarity With The Palestinian People 2025

Each year on November 29, Palestinians and supporters worldwide mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, a day that reaffirms the justice of the Palestinian cause, revives global awareness of Palestinian collective identity, and upholds the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including the Right of Return, self-determination, independence, and national sovereignty. It is also a reminder that Jerusalem is a sacred city for the three Abrahamic faiths - Islam, Christianity, and Judaism - where freedom of worship must be protected for all.

Palestinian identity is a living narrative carried across continents; seen in a flag raised, a keffiyeh worn with pride, an embroidered artefact, the scent of Maqluba, a key symbolizing the right of return, a planted olive tree, or a mural reading “Free Palestine”. These symbols collectively protect Palestine’s cultural memory, shaped by land, language, displacement, resilience, and hope, yet continually renewed through generations.

Today, global support for Palestine is stronger than ever: 157 of 193 UN member states now recognize the State of Palestine, and the 2025 New York Declaration reaffirmed the two-state solution as the path forward. While deeply disappointed that New Zealand missed a historic opportunity to recognize Palestine, we remain hopeful that its future stance will reflect justice and moral consistency.

As we observe this day, we call upon the international community, civil society leaders, and policymakers to uphold international law, reject apartheid, condemn illegal settlement expansion, and protect the fundamental rights of Palestinians living under occupation, in exile, and in refugee camps worldwide. We also call upon Palestinians themselves - wherever they live - to strengthen unity, safeguard national legitimacy, and ensure that the sacrifices of generations continue to lead toward freedom and statehood.

We call for unity, freedom, and peace.

To every Palestinian: raise your flag, lift your keffiyeh, celebrate your heritage, and narrate from your Palestinian memory that on this land, there is what deserves life.
