FIJI: Clarification Regarding Recent Content Published On The Duavata News Facebook Page In Relation To Bula FC
The Council did not initiate commentary on Bula FC or any related party. Our comments were provided strictly in response to questions submitted to the Council, in line with our long standing practice of responding to all requests for clarification and consumer guidance. The Council does not turn away inquiries from media or members of the public.
The Council is concerned that the manner in which our responses were presented by Duavata News may mischaracterise both the intent and context of what was said. The Council was not “stepping in,” issuing warnings, making findings, or taking action against Bula FC or any individual. No investigation has been initiated, and no determination of non-compliance has been made.
Any references made were general in nature and intended solely to outline broad consumer protection principles. They should not be interpreted as allegations, enforcement commentary, or a position taken against any specific organisation.
As an advocacy organization, we will always provide impartial, educational guidance on consumer issues and we respect the roles of the appropriate regulatory authorities. We encourage accurate, balanced reporting to ensure the public is not misled as to the Council’s role or position.
