Climate Denial Is Now Official Policy

They did it. The Environmental Protection Agency has just decided to ignore public will, public health ,and science and dismantle the Climate Change Endangerment Finding, the law that recognizes greenhouse gas pollution is a threat to human beings and the planet. It is a direct assault on decades of climate science, on our public health, and on the rule of law.

For decades, the Endangerment Finding has empowered the federal and state governments to limit pollution from vehicles, power plants, and major industrial sources under the Clean Air Act. Repealing it strips away the federal government’s authority to curb climate pollution at a time when fires are ragging across our country, storms and flooding are destroying our communities, heat waves shatter records, thousands of species are disappearing, and toxic air chokes our communities. And sets back trillions of dollars in government and industry investment that was creating millions of green jobs and that kept the United States as a leader in the green revolution.

And once again, the people who will suffer most are those with the fewest resources to recover — low-income families, frontline communities, workers, children, and the elderly.

Let’s be clear about what this decision represents: It contradicts overwhelming scientific evidence, medial consensus and the will of the American people. And if that wasn’t horrific enough, it hands a victory to polluters and oil companies who bought off the Administration at the expense of our future.

EARTHDAY.ORG will fight this relentlessly. Our community is preparing to challenge this rollback. We are mobilizing partners across the country and working alongside states, cities, and civil society leaders to defend climate protections. And we will push to have this reckless irresponsible decision reversed.

We refuse to let decades of climate safeguards be erased without a battle. What happens next depends on whether we meet this attack with power, urgency, and collective action. If you believe science mattes and our environmental laws must protect people and that our children deserve a better future, we need you with us right now.

Join us on Earth Day and create your own community’s response to the dismantling of all of our environmental laws for the benefit of the rich.

Donate today to help fund the advocacy campaigns, voter registration drives, organizing efforts, and climate action initiatives that will hold this Administration accountable.

We can stop it. It’s Our Power for Our Planet. Thank you for helping us protect our health, our communities, and the earth.
