NACI Condemns U.S. Plot To Assassinate Cuba
The New African Charter International (NACI) is deeply shocked and anguished to learn about the cowardly attempt by the US to destabilise Cuba and to kill the President of that country, His Excellency Miguel Diaz-Canal. Such senseless acts of aggression targeting a sovereign member-state of the United Nations constitutes an attack on sovereignty and homeland dignity, and deserve to be condemned globally. This action took place on Wednesday 25th February, 2026 and was executed by a group of notorious terrorists who used a US registered drugs boat to infiltrate Cuba's territorial waters.
There have been several instances of multiples of coercive measures and collective punishments initiated by Washington to destabilise Cuba with the goal of implementing regime change in Havana. The latest sovereignty infringement has been a narcotic boat carrying terrorists, intelligence sources believe was in an aggression mission to destabilise Cuba and overthrow the legitimate government in Havana.
This terrorist aggression on Cuba’s territorial waters is a stark reminder of the destabilisation efforts that dominate US foreign policy towards the Caribbean basin. Such a heinous crime is a direct assault on the very fabric of the civilised global community, which cannot and should not be tolerated under any circumstance. It is also a reminder of the urgent need for the global community to wake from the slumber and exert pressure to bear on Washington to stop its hostile policies and aggressive rhetoric towards Cuba.
Having stated the above, the New African Charter International (NACI) condemns in the strongest possible terms this spurious act and extends its unalloyed solidarity with Cuba and the Cuban people. NACI also affirmed its absolute rejection of such terrorist acts, which are at variance with international conventions, humanitarian values, and universally recognised ethical norms.
It is no accident to state here that the US foreign policy seeks to change the international order to its own designs and tastes. This, Washington pursues by imposing sanctions, embargoes, blockades, collective punishments and other coercive measures against nations and progressive leaders.
We are concerned about the debilitating impact of the US blockade on ordinary Cuban people. NACI opposes Washington’s intensification attempts to kill the Cuban President, and also against actions that seek to undermine Cuba’s longstanding and peaceful administration of the Island of Guantanamo Bay, illegally occupied by the US military and forces of aggression for more than six decades now.
We reiterate our strong objections to US hate messages and incitements in desperate attempts to create internal uprising in Cuba. We are concerned about Washington's repeated obstruction of Cuba’s peaceful diplomatic and international solidarity activities with Africa and other oppressed regions of the world.
Concluding, NACI commends the extraordinary acts of bravery of the Cuban security men and women and the Cuban government for their great courage in defeating the aggressive invaders. We advocate zero tolerance towards terrorism, hate, violence and such inhumane acts should be condemned in all forms.
The people of Cuba are facing severe economic hardship, energy shortages and growing humanitarian strain due to US hostile policies. NACI is of the belief that any attempt to prolong the crisis in Cuba, the impact would be devastating to the global community. This would go a long way to make life unbearable across the Caribbean and beyond.
Since the return of Donald Trump at the White House, the US has attempted to turn the entire Caribbean basin into a trust region under Washington imperialism. Instead of helping to protect the Caribbean to become a zone of peace, the Trump administration in Washington has been meddling in the internal affairs of countries in the Caribbean basin, threatening the activities of Cuban medical missions, and calling for the region to sour relations with perceived enemies including Russia, China, North Korea, the Islamic Republic of Iran, etc.
By this statement, NACI will continue to support efforts to end the US blockade and hostile behaviours against Cuba. And, we stand in solidarity with the Cuban people and their desire for an end to US meddling mentality in the internal matters of Cuba.
Cuba must live!
