Short Forecast from Weather Workshop valid to midnight tonight:
From northern Taranaki to Bay of Plenty northwards: Showers and fine breaks. Long fine periods about Bay of Plenty.
Southern Taranaki to Wellington, also for the central high country and from Gisborne to Wairarapa: Showery this morning with snow to 500 metres affecting main highways at altitude such as the Desert Road, Napier/Taupo and Rimutaka roads. Fine periods increasing from the south during the day, especially about Wellington and west of the main ranges.
For Nelson and the South Island west coast: Fine, clear, frosty conditions.
From Marlborough to Otago, also for Southland: Cloud and showery at first this morning with snow above 500 metres. Gradually clearing inland but a few coastal showers continuing in the east, especially north of Banks Peninsula.
Chatham Islands: Rain or showers persisting.
